Powering Croatia’s first virtual production studio

When Croatia Virtual Production Studio launched the country’s first full-scale LED volume in Zagreb, the ambition was clear: deliver international, in-camera virtual production standards with uncompromising reliability, precision, and scalability.

Behind the visuals, however, virtual production places exceptional demands on power distribution and electrical control. High-density LED walls, real-time render systems, motion control, and synchronized lighting require a power infrastructure that is not only robust but also transparent, monitored, and production-safe.

The challenge: power under constant load

The studio is built around a 20 × 5 m curved LED volume using 400 ROE Visual Ruby panels (100 m², 2.6 mm pixel pitch), driven by high-performance processing and real-time rendering engines. Combined with advanced camera tracking, motion-control robotics, and high-output cinematic lighting, the electrical load is both continuous and highly dynamic.

In this environment, traditional power distribution is not enough. The studio required:

  • Stable power delivery under sustained high loads
  • Individual circuit monitoring to avoid overloads and downtime
  • Clear visibility of system status during production
  • A scalable setup ready for future expansion

The solution: StageSmarts C24

To meet these requirements, the studio’s entire LED volume and core infrastructure is powered by the StageSmarts C24 power distribution system.

The C24 delivers professional-grade, high-capacity power distribution with individually monitored outputs, providing full control over power delivery to:

  • LED walls and processors
  • Media servers and render systems
  • Lighting infrastructure
  • Motion-control and auxiliary equipment
  • By monitoring each output individually, the production team gains immediate insight into load levels, system health, and potential faults – a critical advantage in virtual production environments where power instability can halt an entire shoot.

Smart power for modern virtual production

Power management is further enhanced through StageSmarts’ software platform, enabling real-time monitoring, logging, and remote control of all connected circuits. This gives the technical team:

  • Live visibility of power consumption
  • Faster fault detection and troubleshooting
  • Better planning for peak loads and complex setups
  • A safer and more sustainable power workflow
The result is a transparent, reliable electrical backbone that supports the demands of modern virtual production while reducing risk on set.

Built for performance and future growth

With power infrastructure designed for precision and scalability, Croatia Virtual Production Studio can operate confidently across a wide range of productions — from narrative film and automotive shoots to R&D, motion-control workflows, and real-time content development.

By integrating StageSmarts at the core of its electrical system, the studio ensures that power is never a limiting factor – even as productions grow in complexity and scale.

About the studio

Croatia Virtual Production Studio is operated by leading production house Antitalent, with support from camera-rental and studio provider Cinecro. The facility spans 680 m², with an additional 500 m² dedicated to warehouse space, offices, and production facilities.
